Plasticilty Conclusion

Recently, we did a lab in science that was very helpful in learning about plasticity, but at the same time was very entertaining! First, we took a beacker and filled it with some cornstarch. Then, we took that beaker and we added some water into it. The next step was to take some and place it in our hands. as I did at first it felt a little goey but then it started to harden as I started to squeeze it. The mixture was a beige color and was as smooth as silk. The mixture was really either a liquid or a solid because it was a liquid at first but then slowly turned into a solid. When I put my finger in the mixture I could put it in very fast but it came out extremely slowly along with a whole lot of the mixture stuck on my finger. But, when I put my finger in slowly, it needed a little bit of pressure to come out. This mixture came be related to the Earth's mantle because if there is no heat and pressure, then , will be a liquid and be solid enough to be a sphere. Knowing that plasticity means: "ability to be shaped or formed" helped me understanding this even more.I think I have learned alot from this lab.

October Sky

In the movie, "October Sky", many examples of cooperation and dedication were displayed. When a group of people from the town go out to see Sputnik, the first satellite ever launched by Russia, a boy named Homer becomes very attached to the science and math of rockets. This gives him the motivation to start a group called the Rocket Boys that build rockets in a deserted area and launch them there. When a forest fire starts the police officers blame it on the Rocket Boys putting them in handcuffs. It wasn't until their parents came to get them, that they were released. Soon after there is accident in the coal mines where everbody works and Homer's dad gets seriously hurt. This causes Homer to take his dads place therefore making him drop out of school so he can work. Soon after his dad is better Homer reads a book about rockets that Ms. Reily, his science teacher gives. While using the maps and the math in the book he was able to prove that the Rocket Boy indeed had not started the forest fire they were accused of doing. Because of this, the Rocket Boys once again had once again gotton their rights back to that open area. Cooperation was displayed in this movie because all the Rocket Boys work together in order to build a rocket that is able to fly well enough into the sky. When the boys enter a science fair, they get chosen to go into the nationals but the school could only pay for one person to go. Therefore, they used the quality trait assertion to choose the Homer had given up enough and deserved to go the National Science Fair. Homer's father never had much empathy for Homer's love of these rockets, but, when the displays Homer was about to present, get stolen, his father realizes that it is time to start supporting his son and allow one of his workers to make Homer another display prop. He soon gets second prize along with many scholarship opportunities. All of the Rockets boys acheived something from this lifelong journey and soon they all acheived prospering two of which were a job at NASA and a job as an Oil Engineer.

Genetic Disorder-Charcot Marie-Tooth Disease Response

As I read the blog: soccer105, I read about the genetic disorder Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease. I thought it was full of useful information that would be useful to use! Something that I would like to see is a picture so the reader is able to see what the author is talking about. I thought it was amazing that the symptoms may not even appear until adulthood. I really wonder why this disease has the name tooth in it's response, so i wanted the reader to explain that into the response as well. DWARFISM! =]

Did you know that dwarfism can be caused by multiple medical conditions? Some symptoms can be that you walk slower, you have poor growth, and, subnormal intelligence. In Dwarfism, you have shorter arms, legs, and, hands. There is no possible treatment available. If you have dwarfism, than you die earlier than an average person. In fact, about 50 million people in the United States have dwarfism. Anybody is vulnerable to dwarfism. To have dwarfism, genes need to be mutated in the RMRD. Currently, there is no treatment but to find a treatment you need to find out if they can stop the genes in the RMRD.

SS Blog - China Investing U.S Bonds can't end

On February 22nd in Beijing, Hillary Clinton, our new Secretary of State, has been trying to persuade China to keep investing in U.S Treasury using substantial foreign exchanges. Before the current economic situation, China was helping America's spending. This was because china was America's biggest foreign holder. People are concerned that because of all the money Chinese substantial holding, America has more leverage deals with Washington. This also makes it difficult to finance their stimulus plans and government bailout plan every time a Chinese item is bought. Glenn Kessler, a writer of the Washington Post has said that: "Clinton, in unusually direct comments on an interview with China's Dragon TV before returning to Washington, said that reality made it an imperative for China to keep purchasing U.S. Treasury bonds, because otherwise the U.S. economy will not recover and China will suffer as well. ". Something I wonder is that IN WHICH WAY would the economy suffer if China does not invest in U.S Bonds. Clinton has also said that because of America and China's interconnections, they will either rise, of fall together. I wonder what China's decision will finally be.

Ice Age Fossils in LA

Recently, in Los Angeles, scientists have discovered deposits of Ice Age fossils in the city of La Brea Tar Pits. Researchers have found 16 fossils that belong to the Ice Age over all. Some types of animals were saber-toothed cats, skulls of American lions, a mammoth, dire wolves, bison, horses, and ground sloths. The researchers began looking for these fossils in 2006 and found these 16 fossils under an old parking lot. La Brea Tar Pits are one of the world’s most famous fossil sites. It has been known that since 1996 more than one million fossils have been found. I wonder what more is there to come.
